Welding rods for high-yield-strength steel are designed for welding low-alloy, fine-grained steels with properties superior to those of conventional structural steels. They are used in metal construction, machinery manufacturing, offshore applications and equipment for the chemical and petrochemical sectors.
This category includes wires alloyed with nickel, chromium and molybdenum for structures subjected to high loads. Among the available options is the wire ER100S-G, suitable for materials with a minimum yield strength of 620 MPa, and the wire ER110S-G, designed for applications with higher mechanical and impact demands at low temperatures.
Both grades can be used with mixtures of argon and CO₂ or with CO₂ alone, in accordance with the consumable’s classification and the conditions set out in the welding procedure.
The choice depends on the strength of the base steel, the thickness of the workpieces, the required toughness and the service temperature. These wires are classified in accordance with the standard EN ISO 16834.
