Grower washers are lock washers used to prevent loosening or displacement of a bolt or nut. They are also known as spring washers. Thanks to the opening on one side of the washer, they provide a fixed joint that is protected against vibration or shock. This type of washer is mainly used in the automotive, construction and machinery industries.

Grower washers: characteristics and specifications

Grower washers are thicker and harder than other types of washers. These are their main characteristics:

Conical shape: Grower washers have a conical shape that allows them to exert uniform pressure on the base material and the fastener, increasing friction and resistance to vibration.
Cut on one side: provides more elasticity when joining or loosening the part and prevents the washer from slipping on the surface.
Corrosion resistant materials: we have a wide range of materials and coatings for Grower washers that are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. These include washers made of steel – black coated, zinc plated and hot-dip galvanised – A2 and A4 stainless steel.
Increased strength: Grower washers are highly resistant to vibration and also prevent bolts from loosening. They are ideal for applications where a high level of safety and reliability is required.

One thing to note: it is not advisable to reuse Grower washers. Once they have been compressed for a particular fastening, their ability to perform their function may diminish.
